Traces of Ancients

Although Andros has a rich history, the presence of the ancients isn't evident on the surface, but it is both under the ground & under water. Find archaeological findings in the island's two museums & swim over the ancient port at Palaiopolis.

Fish Tavernas with a Fresh Catch

Aegean cuisine consists mainly of seafood. You can taste grilled octopus leg, calamari, and, if lucky, tuna. Ask the waiter which position on the menu is fresh & order a salad to accompany your main dish. Fish Tavernas are located all along the island's coast. Wherever you are, come by for a midday snack or a big dinner table.

Gavrio

Gavrio is a town around the port where all tourists arrive first. It makes Gavrio a busy town in summer. However, it is still relatively quiet even in the middle of summer.

Here you will find a cluster of seafood restaurants. Sails (12-24) has traditional and fresh seafood. In Riva Andros (13-24) & Karavostasi (13-24dishes are served in a more fancy fashion.

Mpatsi

It is a small but energetic town on the island's west coast. Mpatsi stretches around the lagoon. The tight coastal streets offer one of the best food experiences on the island in terms of dish design. Check out Mastello (13-02), Branda (13-24) & Pomelo (16-01)

Dishes here are smaller & more expensive but fancy. Stamatis (11:30-23:30) offers sushi alongside local seafood dishes.

Belitsa (10-01) is simpler and cheaper. Almi (12-24is located on the hill over the town & has a fancy fashion as well.

There is a restaurant on the way from Gavrio & Mpatsi to Andros here. Agia Marina (11:30-22) is located right by the beach among the trees in the tiny village. It is a very authentic atmosphere here.

Korthi

A fishing town in a lagoon has some great seafood to offer. The best restaurants are located on the coastal street. In summer, they love to organise a dining area outside.

Kalogridis (12-24) is simple but has the best fresh fish.

Lithodomi (12-24) has a cozy design & its dishes are more original and fancy.
